Early Career.

Sergiu Pobereznic had a 20 year career in classical ballet, with over 10 years as a principal dancer. During this time he cultivated various skills and passions extending him into various other disciplines in the artistic domain, namely painting, sculpture, music composition of all styles (classical, contemporary), and choreography.

From very humble beginnings he was born in Romania, moving to England at 11 after his father’s prior defection. He auditioned soon after his arrival, and was accepted at the prestigious Royal Ballet School. During the last two years of his training he explored other artistic skills further, allowing an avenue for self expression out of the confines of ballet.

Sergiu joined The Royal Ballet in 1986 after leading performances for Royal Ballet School’s graduation two years running, becoming a Soloist in 1990. He transferred to Birmingham Royal Ballet in 1993 and was promoted to Principal in 1997.

As well as possessing a beautiful classical line, demonstrated in performances as Siegfried in Swan Lake, Franz in Coppelia and the Prince in The Nutcracker, Sergiu’s versatile dynamism sees him also excelling in more modern repertory. His many notable roles include Balanchine’s Agon, The Four Temperaments and Serenade, Troyte Griffith in Enigma Variations, Colas in La Fille mal Gardee and Oberon in The Dream.

Expression and Beyond.

During this time Sergiu further developed his skills as an artist, writer and composer always striving for freedom in self expression and perfection in delivery. Before emigrating to Australia, Sergiu established a clientele for his creations internationally.

Sergiu’s main focus in his art, writing and music, is to bring forth his many and varied life experiences, having been surrounded by beauty, exemplary design especially costume, stage, lighting, and music. He has been influenced and inspired directly by some of the most creative people in the world.
